I just want to lay down and sleep so I'm not able to write so much right now.But it's been a amazin weekend and I really believe that if we wark hard and toether we can save our planet. Last period with track two.

Soon all the delegators will vote for which messages will be sent to COP15. Three ideas will be chosen, one form each track. These message will be present on COP15.

This morning I was at track two. They were working with the last preparations for the presentations for all tracks. They were working in small gorups with different small coutries. They had to write down their idea for a short presentation, make some posters and so on.

This in one project from studens from Germany, Sweden an China.
Theit project is called Green fairs in school. They want students to organize fairs around christmas, valentines day and other holidays. They wants so sell secondhand clothes and goos enviromental stuff old toys people don't use. Then they want to use the money to buy solarpanels and recyclingboxes for schools. They will try to start with this project in their different schools.

I believe this ia a really good idea, you can do it all over the world and you recykling your old stuffs and use the money to have more sustainble energy in their schools. I really hope it will work!

Track three, pass 6.

This morning I went to a lecture for track three. It was a lecture about Climate change, ethics and lifestyle and how these three things affect each other. Peter Erikson was the person who held the lecture, he came from the Nordic genetic resource centre.

There are three basic things about ethics:
1: Affecting others in a way important to them.
2: normative
3: it’s universal.

So, if all your friends like coffee, but hates tea, and you loves tea, it probably won’t matter because you don’t affect them by drinking tea. If you on the other hand love to break other people things and your friends don’t they will probably tell you that it’s not right, because it affects other people.
And by living the way we live, we affect the climate, there is something called carbon footprint. We saw some numbers from Trondheim University, about different countries carbon footprint, which is the amount of greenhouse gases emitted because of our lifestyle.

Malawi: 8 megaton
Sweden: 90 M
Denmark: 80 M
Finland: 95 M
Norway: 70 M
Russia: 1500 M
USA: 8000 M
China: 4000 M
India: 1900 M
Indonesia: 400 M
Those numbers are for the whole country.

But like I wrote before, those numbers are for the things we use, because of the way we live, if you instead look at the total emission from for example Indonesia, their emission number is 3000 M compared to their footprint: 400 M. Why? Indonesia is a big producer of palm oil, countries all over the world uses this oil in food, makeup, soap and a whole lot of other everyday products. As you can see, our use of palm oil all over the world affect Indonesia’s carbon emission.

And what If we don´t reduce our emissions? What if we are too comfortable to change our lifestyle? Who will pay for it? If we don’t do anything coming generations, other species and poorer countries will be the ones paying the price for our stupidity and wasteful lifestyles.

SAVE Tomorrow..

We haven’t done something wrong. It was our old generations fault. But we are all one, so it’s our mission to fix these things.

But start today; because tomorrow it might be too late. We just need to wake up. I know it’s a sweet dream: we have everything in our hands, all the opportunities to live a comfortable life without thinking about “others”. Just looking into a mirror and seeing no one but yourself.
I like “the Beatles”, do you know why? Because they like to live too! They love peace on earth, they love peace with the earth. If you can’t give up your bad manners for the environment, please try to listen to the Beatles. They’ll give you the energy to start from somewhere. Here is a meaningful one:

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they're here to stay
Oh, I believe in yesterday

Suddenly, I'm not half the man I used to be
There's a shadow hanging over me
Oh, yesterday came suddenly

Why she had to go I don't know, she wouldn't say
I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday

Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh, I believe in yesterday

Why she had to go I don't know, she wouldn't say
I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday

Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh, I believe in yesterday, mm

How many people will read my writing? One? Two? If I’m lucky ten, maybe. But whoever you are, whatever you read in here; this is a call for you, and only you. Realize! Open your eyes! Did I realize? Maybe I’m still in my sweet dream so please somebody, wake me up!

With track one.

They were divided in eleven different groups. All of the groups had ten minutes to prepare themselves so they could make a presentation of themselves and their thoughts and how their land looked like. They had one minute to talk about themselves for the other countries. There were big rich countries with big emission. There were smaller countries, and all the money they had was the money they got by their oil and fossil-fouls industry. There were countries that were so affected by the Climate Change and needed all the help they could get. The interesting thing was that we could compare all this countries to countries in the world today.

Then they had some time to make alliances. It was very interesting to listen to. Some countries were very capable to compromise with each other, and some of them were not. Then there was time for debate. This was even more interesting because it was so hard for them to compromise. In reality this must be even harder. Now they wanted to compromise, but they really had to think about their countries, in reality some of the countries don’t want to compromise.

I think we all realized how hard it actually is for the politicians to solve this problem. Even if we all want to do something we might not be able to do it, mostly because of economy. As politicians you can’t just sign under a deal, even if you really want to.

I think we all agreed to that one of the biggest problem in the world today, is the money and our economy system. People have the wrong attitude. It will be very hard to change our way of thinking and acting, but we have to try, we cannot fail!

Tree planting

After the lunch, we ate soup, we went to the cathedral of Lund. Our bishop Antje Jackelén hold a speech about how important it is to work togehter and don't fight with each other. We dependent och each other, no more than ever. Then she help some students, all from diffrent countries, to plant a tree. We have no planted 100trees as a compensation for our friends air journeys. It was a really funnt idea and it was good for the environment.

Saturday morning

A new day with new activities has just stared.

This morning begun with a film called “Wake up, Freak out – then get a grip”, it was very interesting. After the film there was a speaker from the University of Lund, Åsa Knaggård. She talked a lot about the problems, not about the consequences with the climate changes. How do we solve these problems? We can’t just sit around and wait for something to happen, we must act now. But how can we act? Who will pay? What will happen if we don’t stop this when we still have time left? Will the rich countries help the poor countries? And the most important thing of them all, can we actually compare humanity and biodiversity with money?

As I wrote, the last question is the most interesting one. There is no one who will take the place to lead us towards a better future. All the leaders in the world only care about themselves, how to gain more power and their own problems. They know that we have to do something, but are they willing to do enough? There are so many sides of this problem, so many effects, we have to act now! We can’t just sit around and wait for someone else to act. Someone needs to take the first step, and that must be someone who people could look up to. There are a lot of problems but only a few solutions. We really need to stop fighting against each other and work as a team.

As Dumbledore in Harry Potter said, ”We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided.”

Track 3 day 1

I went to the workshop for track 3 earlier today. Track 3 is all about what you can do as an individual.

We started off by introducing ourselves with our name, where we live, and also telling the others what we do to help the environment. We all did a lot of different things, stuff like being a vegetarian, recycling, buying secondhand clothes, going by bus or bike instead of driving a car to school or work. As you can see quite simple things, but all of those small things, makes a difference.

After introducing ourselves we were divided into two groups, one of the groups had a discussion, and the other group had Forum Theater. Forum theatre means that you see a short play, and there is a “problem” in the play, and everyone in the public are allowed to stop the scene, and switch places with one of the actors to help solving the problem, or in this case, win the argument.

One of the short plays was about three youngsters who had won a competition, they used the price money to fulfill a dream of a going to Norway, two of them wanted to go by airplane from Stockholm to Oslo, but one of them felt really bad about going by plane when there was no need to. Our task as viewers was to stop the scene and switch places witch one of the actors, in order to convince the others to go by train instead of airplane.

It was a great way of learning new arguments, and practicing your skills in convincing people, all the exercises were fun, and I think we all enjoyed it and learned a lot!

Video Conference!

The opening Cermony was very interesting. There were a lot of good speakers from Sweden and Lund. After the cermony there was a video conferance. Me, Abby ,from the US, Malin and another Agnes went to this with our project maneger Brigitta. She's very active in different organizaions and one of CEI (Caretakers of the Enviroment International). I was a confrence in Aberdeen, Scotland, earlier this year and now we were going to talk to some other active caretakers who weren't able to attend earlier. We were talking to students and teachers from Oregon, U.S.A (Abby's hometown, Indonesia, Netherlands, Poland and Hungary. We were mostly talking in small groups and then all together.

An Indonisan girl asked a very intresting question. How is the climatechange affecting your country? In every country there were different answers. In Oregon they had almost had a tornado. Last year they had a big snow storm and sometimes during the winter they have warm periods. The snow storm lasted for almost two weeks, they closed the free ways and the big roads and they didn't have school.
In Indonesia they had problems with their rice crops. They don't now when to harvest because the can't predict the weather. Here in Sweden we have almost no atumn or spring. The summers are very hot and the winters last very long. We have problems at our coasts, the water edge is moving upwards.
This was very intresting, we are from all over the world and still we can see how the climatechange's affecting us all. In different ways of course, some ways are more dangerous than others.

We were also discussing what we can do and how we will make people care about the environment. We came up with some ideas. We think that is very important to learn
people how to separate at source when they're very young. If we learn them how to think from the beginning we might be able to change the whole perspective of the environment. It's important to be visible and show people that they atcually can make a diffrence, and there is people who care.

Esss.

The speaker from ess were a bit late, so thats why this post is a bit late. We have just ate and right now there is the opening cermony, we'll write more about that later. Now a bit about the ESS.

The ESS or European Spallation Source (Scandinavia) will be an European resarch station. It will be build outside Lund, because Lund is close to Copenhagen and Copenhagen is the key to the rest of the Europe and the world. The ESS is a project formed by 13 diffrent Europeans countries. There will also build a station called MAX IV. In the ESS they will study and work with neutrons, because with neutrons you can see soft material, and with X-ray (and light) you can only see hard materia. With this tecnollogy you might be abel to, create new energy sorces, create better medecine, work with cehemstry, create things for a better climate future. etc.

Ess will perhaps have to much heat during summertime and they would be very happy if you came up with ideas of what they could use this extra energy form!

This was very short about the ESS, you can read more about it on www.esss.se

Open!

Klimattingett is officialy open :D

Togheter we can make a change!

At the moment people are throwing out really long rolls of paper, the idéa is that everyone here will write feedback, a positiv suggestion that aplies to everyone in here and one example of something possitiv for the enviroment, which you are allready doing on the same piece of paper as everyone else!

And a few moments ago we had a speaker named Sven Heijbel talking to us about enviromental involvement.
He started of by asking if anyone engaged in themself, and well.. everyone did, then he asked if also engaged in our family and friends, and yes, most people did that aswell. After that he asked if we also had the energy and will to engage in our own reality, things happening in the enviroment around us. and well, since this is a climate gathering most people raised their hands. Im sorry to say that it's not usually like that, Sven told us that he usually have about 5% raising their hand when he asks.
Then he told us a really inspiering story about 5 youngsters from USA, the had an idé, they spent three months talking to companies all over USA, asking them to make some kind of event on the 14th of April 2007 the event was called "step it up 2007!, 1400 events where held, in all 50 states! The message to the American congress was to reduse the bad emissions with 80% untill year 2050, both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama changed their election campaigns after this.
If five people kan do that, then imagine what we all, everyone can do togheter!

Right now; speakers and blog help.

After a break with some coffe, tea and sandwiches we're back in "Great Hall" in AF-borgen in Lund. It was very nice, the meeting was very good and we gave some move to a consert project with and for young people, and to a LAN in Lund. This is not a part of the real Climate Gathering, is just to show our intrenational studens how we work with democracy. Demorcracy and work togehter is important, we need to do that if we're going to save the world!

Now we are wating for the speakers who will talk about ESSS. I don't know what that is, yet. While we are waiting, Johannes is cheking how many people that acually did the personal Bingo.
The personal bingo was a game invented by a guy named Pontus, it had tasks like "hug a vegetarian" and "find someone who likes oyesters" the whole point of the Bingo was to talk to people, get to know eachother! because we are a big group of people from all over the world. Hjalmar, the project leader, is talking about this day. He is also talking about our blog. We like that =)

I have a new partner here. Another girl from Lund, Sweden, we will work together with this blog, and we will have help from other attender as well. We will attende to diffrent activits so we can tell you as much as possible. I think we will have some help from another girl to, we'll see.

Now are the speakers arriving so we will listen to them and write about it later.

The Youth Concil of Lund

Now the Climate Gathering is started.

The first thing will be a Youth Concil. Here in Lund the young people meet to tell the politican and adult what we want to do in our town. We have this big meeting four times a year and then we have smaller committees with smaller projects, like committee of education, committee of culture. I'm in the committee of enviromental questions and our latest project have been to work with this Glimate Gathering. We have our on economy and there are always politicans attentig to the Youth concils meeting. If you are between 12-24 years old and live or go to school in Lund, you're alloweed to vote at the Youth Concil. We got 100.000kr from the commune every year and we decied on your on what we will use the money to. We have the full responsibility for our own projects and it's a free politican zone, in the Youth Concil you represent yourself and not a not a party. It's free and if you don't want to be a part of the Youth Coucil we won't force you to be there. Where doing this because we want to be apart of whats happening and because it's funny. =)

The Youth Concil is formed by young people and for young people.
This was very short about the Youth Concil, if you want to know more abou it you can go to http://www.ungilund.se/ Now the meeting will start so I'm going to be there.

Another Meeting :)

Hello again!

Today we had another meeting with the organizer group, we will meet every day this week. A lot of time, but definatly worth it! We are almost there, everything is almost finished. After half a year of work, it feels great! I've been working with this project since the begining of June. Well, I haven't actually worked all the time beacuse of school, but I've been following the project the whole time. There will be a big hole after this project and I will really miss the nice people from the organizer group! You are really amazing guys! =)

Today at the meeting, I arrived a bit late so I missed the "whole group together" metting. Then I was with the track two group: Projects - Acting Locally. They are preparing everything in detail know, so it wasn't so much to do. Just make sure that everything is okey for Friday. The timetable for that group is very intressting, a lot of intresting speaker and funny activitys!

I'm looking forward to meet you all on Friday, and if you have any questions to me, or want to write in this blog, CONTACT ME! :) klimatblogg@gmail.com

I feel like a really good girl cause I started to clean my room today. It has to be nice if I'm going to have some students livig here for the weekend. I hope many other students from Lund take the big chance to have some one from another town or/and country living in their house. It's really funny and you can meet many new nice friends

It would be nice if you could share some of your ideas or things you are doing befor the ting. Then I can write about it here =) You can send an e-mail to klimatblogg@gmail.com

The first post!

Hello everybody!
This is the first post ever on this blog. Hope you'll enjoy it.

Soon it's time for Klimatting Ett or Climate Gathering and yeasterday we had a organizer meeting at Wickmanska. We ate appelcake with ice-cream and discuss what we have to do before the climate gathering. Small groups are now working very hard with the three diffrent tracks and the diffrent programs in them. They all are going to have meetings today and work. There many things left to do and they all have to work hard. I think it's amazing how so many young people can work with things like this on their free time. Of cousre it's very funny, but it's an awkward.

It's only 9 days left:)
